Britain's Got Talent's Ant McPartlin likens Dec to Boris Johnson in behind the scenes dig

Ant McPartlin has likened co-host and best mate Dec Donnelly to Boris Johnson, in a backstage clip from the new series of Britain's Got Talent.

The Geordie duo are back in BGT hoisting action for the first time in close to two years, after the ITV show was pulled completely last year due to the coronavirus pandemic. They proved to have the golden touch quite literally in 2020, when they hit their Golden Buzzer for piano playing comedian Jon Courtenay.

After being sent straight through to the live shows by Ant and Dec, Jon went onto triumph after a powerful and moving performance in the final. Due to last year's series being cancelled, Jon is Britain's Got Talent's longest ever reigning champion but will soon have a successor as judges Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden, David Walliams and Alesha Dixon cast their eyes over a new batch of hopefuls.

Ant and Dec revealed BGT's return date to great excitement last week, with ITV then giving fans even better news, when they confirmed Britain's Got Talent will be on twice over Easter weekend, with episodes on both Saturday and Sunday. And, as they gear up to take the reins once again, Ant and Dec have posted a backstage clip on their social media.

The short video sees both presenters wearing crash helmets as Dec gets the first jibe in. Glancing across to Ant, who's wearing full cycling attire, Dec comments: "Not many many can pull off lycra...and he's one of them." As Dec puts on his blue helmet, Ant tells him: "That looks like Boris Johnson's helmet, you know when he went down the zip wire with the Union Jack flag."

The video then cuts to Dec's face superimposed onto the Prime Minister's body to recreate his zip wire moment, as Ant starts laughing and shouts: "And I thought I would look the idiot in this scene!"

The lads captioned the video: " #EveningPrimeMinister BGT is back this Saturday," choosing their words to give a clear nod to their regular mentions of Boris Johnson during the last series of I'm A Celebrity.
