Britain's Got Talent replacing David Walliams with Bruno Tonioli

Strictly Come Dancing's Bruno Tonioli is set to replace David Walliams on Britain's Got Talent.

The comedian left the talent show after damning voicemails surfaced where he could be heard commenting on performers' appearances. The uncouth remarks brought with them a wave of fan backlash which ultimately saw David step down from his post.

With filming set to resume for a new series next week, professional dancer Bruno Tonioli is said to be ready to hop into David's old seat - reports Mirror Online.

The Strictly Come Dancing legend took up residence in the US in order to take part in Dancing With The Stars but he has returned to British soil to join Amanda Holden, Simon Cowell and Alesha Dixon on the panel.

Insiders said they were “thrilled” by the deal, which will be signed and made official in the next few days. One source revealed: “Bruno has all the right experience and his famous exuberance will go down a treat.

"He and Simon have long hoped to work together so this has proved the perfect opportunity. Everyone’s very excited."

Funnyman Alan Carr, who was also being considered for the job, will now be lined up for other roles on the channel, having left ITV bosses "hugely impressed".
