Britain's Got Talent mum gave birth hours before audition being screened

Pregnant Britain’s Got Talent contestant Amy Lou Smith floored viewers with her outstanding voice as the ITV talent show returned to our screens on Saturday night. Sunbed shop worker Amy Lou captivated fans as she belted out Beyonce's Listen from the musical Dreamgirls.

The praise came pouring in for her spellbinding audition and happily for Amy Lou, her baby daughter arrived just in time to see her talented mum’s audition, reports the Mirror. Baby Aida was born “healthy in every single form,” according to mum.

She was welcomed into the world at 15:59 on Saturday afternoon, just hours before her mum instantly won hearts on the long-running show and sailed through to the next round. Amy-Lou, 34, from Tipton in the West Midlands, was 30 weeks pregnant when she auditioned in January.

Judges Simon Cowell and Amanda Holden remarked that they thought she could give birth as she earned four yeses. Amy Lou, who also has a four-year-old son, said: “She is absolutely perfect and healthy in every single form."

She gushed about her 'BGT baby': "I am so overwhelmed with all the love and support I’ve received from being on the show. I cannot put into words how in love we are with our perfect little girl. She’s made the family complete.

“I love being a mum and I’m beyond grateful and blessed that I’ve been able to welcome Aida into the world. It all feels like a dream right now and I keep having to pinch myself to make sure it’s not.

“We didn’t know my audition would be airing this weekend until the day before and I was already booked in to have Aida - so we were so shocked! I hadn’t told anybody on the show I was having her this weekend - so it’s crazy! As a family we are so in love and I’m so overwhelmed by all the kindness that has come our way. My own little BGT baby!”

Amy-Lou says her tiny bundle of joy proved to be just as big a hit as her instant star of a mum. “She had people swarming our room,” she said on Sunday. “Nurses etc who had just watched the audition in the offices.
