Britain's Got Talent fans couldn't help but share the same Ant McPartlin and Dec Donnelly remarks as the pair returned to screens days after leaving fans 'gutted'. The presenting duo were back in the wings on Saturday night (May 20) as more acts took to the stage in the audition stages of the ITV talent show.
However, their reappearance on ITV comes after they shared the news that their next Saturday Night Takeaway series at the start of next year will be their last - for now. Sharing the news on Thursday (May 18) in a video posted to social media, Ant and Dec said reaching the "milestone" of 20 series seemed like the "perfect time to pause for a little while and catch our breath".
"The show takes up such a lot of our year, we just feel we need a little bit of a breather and that the show is going to take a little bit of a rest," Dec said before he added: "We still have a momentous 20th series to look forward to first so we will do our best to go out (for now) with a bang in 2024."

Fans quickly shared their upset at the news. @jackiehunter85 said:" Noooooooo this show is my sat night! Don’t rest it too long." @rle1990 wrote: "Gutted, I look forward to this on a Saturday night." @heidijadesargent added: "Nooooooooo!!! SNT is my favourite show! What will I do with my Saturdays nights after 2024."
But the big TV news just kept on coming this weekend as Phillip Schofield quit This Morning. The presenter, 61, confirmed in a statement that he was 'stepping back' from the daytime show after weeks of rumours of a backstage 'rift' with co-host Holly Willoughby.
Phillip claimed that "This Morning itself has become the story" and to "protect the show he loves" he has decided to 'step back'. In a statement issued on Saturday (May 20), the TV star said: "I have always been proud to cover fascinating stories on This Morning. But recently, This Morning itself has become the story.
"Throughout my career in TV – including the very difficult last few days – I have always done my best to be honourable and kind. I understand that ITV has decided the current situation can’t go on, and I want to do what I can to protect the show that I love.
“So I have agreed to step down from This Morning with immediate effect, in the hope that the show can move forward to a bright future. I’d like to thank everyone who has supported me – especially This Morning’s amazing viewers – and I’ll see you all for the Soap Awards next month.”
ITV has confirmed that Holly will still host the show with other "members of the This Morning family." But BGT viewers were quick to suggest Ant and Dec should be up for the role.
@TJScaverton tweeted: "#BGT Ant and Dec become the new presenters of This Morning. Just putting it out there..." @DavidFetteroll said: "#BGT New hosts for #ThisMorning Ant and Dec?" @geordiegirl83 added: "In light of recent events I'd LOVE for @antanddec to present a show or even better a week of @thismorning."
