Britain's Got Talent fans divided after cartoon cat revealed as former contestant

A CGI cat has caused controversy on tonight's live semi-final of Britain's Got Talent. Noodle, a singing CGI cat, made it to the semi-finals despite no one knowing who the real singer was.

But tonight Noodle's identity was revealed - as last year's Britain's Got Talent runner-up Tom Ball.

After revealing his identity during his performance of Live and Let Die, Tom explained he wanted to return to the show as it had "changed his life". He explained that he has performed in the US and now has an album coming out soon.

Ant and Dec and the judges said they didn't know that Tom Ball was the secret voice behind Noodle. Some fans were delighter by the reveal but others were angered by Tom getting another shot at the competition.

Taking to Twitter, Michelle Boudin (@MichelleBoudin_) said: "Omg noodle is Tom Ball.... He sounds and looks AMAZING!!"

Louise Kent (@loufug27) said: "@BGT I wasn't expecting that! Noodle.... Incredooble."

Tom Ball underwent a 'sexy glow up' as he was shown to be the voice behind Noodle the Cat (ITV)

FeathersInDevon (@featherfusions) added: "Well done whoever guessed #TomBall as #Noodle I saw a few saying it at the audition. That was amazing! He’s glown up."

But other fans of the show were annoyed that a former contestant had secretly made his way back onto this year's semi-final.

Kerry (@DragonDaemons) said: "And that right there should be disqualification, he was runner-up last year so he’s taken a space someone else could’ve had this year with a CGI cat."

Paul (@that__guy__28) added: "So, hang on, has he just come on here to promote his new album?"

Vithun (@VitIllankovan) added: "So Twitter guessed right from the audition that it would be Tom Ball. But even though the vocals were amazing and he was my winner last year, he didn’t need to take up an applicant space.

"Why not have this as a guest performance?"

Britain's Got Talent continues on Friday, June 2 at 8pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
