Britain's Got Talent voting figures have been revealed, which shows that winning act Viggo Venn bagged his spot at the royal variety performance by a clear advantage - despite receiving a rather unpleasant reaction to coming first place.
The popular ITV talent show came to an end over the weekend, as the Norwegian clown act took home the top prize, which left many members of the audience seemingly raging at the results, as well as many viewers watching on at home.
Like or loathe him, Viggo Venn captured the nation with his dancing in hi-vis as he climbed into a balloon that covered his whole body which saw him take first place ahead of gymnast dance sensation Lilliana Clifton who came in second place.
It has now been revealed according to reports in the Mirror that he gained 22% of the public vote to be crowned the 2023 winner. Runner-up Lilliana, 13, took 13.1% of the overall vote whilst third-place magician Cillian O'Connor received 11.8% of the public vote.
Despite the clear win, unlikely winner Viggo was faced with boos from the live audience as they appeared unhappy at the result, as Viggo was also visibly shocked after being announced he would be taking home the £250,000 prize money and a place on the Royal Variety Show.
Viggo went on to race around the stage and knock host Ant McPartlin over, who really hasn't had much luck this series after taking a nasty stumble on stage during the very first live show taking place. After the result was announced, some of the audience could be heard booing and viewers took to Twitter to give their thoughts.
One tweeted: "Very surprised. But Viggo was very funny. Very distasteful for anyone to boo Viggo. Not his fault he won, people voted for him, not anyone else. Made it a sour end thanks to the audience reaction. Well done, Viggo!!! #BritainsGotTalent #BGT2023 #bgt."
While another tweeted: "Sounded like a lot of boos there when #ViggoVenn was announced as the winner of #BritainsGotTalent. I thought he was great but a shock omissions from the final 3, and I think everyone thought the young lad would win. Bit of a deflated, down-beat end to the series #BGT2023 #BGT."
A third commented: "Did you hear them boo’s on @BGT? Quite right too, ridiculous. So much more talent in that final tonight. #BGT2023 should not have made the live shows. Poor winner."
"By a stretch, that is the worst Britain's Got Talent result EVER. If that really is genuine, then the British voting public should be ashamed and embarrassed. Booing from the audience, and rightly so. Some real talent missed out there. Joke. #BGT2023 #BritainsGotTalent #BGT," one fumed.
Meanwhile, we reported that backed out of his interview on ITV's Lorraine last minute due to not "feeling well" following the mixed reaction to his win.
She told viewers: "Viggo was supposed to be joining me in the studio this morning but unfortunately he's feeling too chipper but hopefully we'll see him later on."
She then said that the performer "needs a wee rest" as he showcased a lot of "energy" during the final.
