Brit Awards 'photo bomber' startles ITV viewers during Ed Sheeran introduction

A Brit Awards party goer has gone viral after appearing in shot as Mo Gilligan introduced Ed Sheeran.

Masked Singer star Mo took over from Jack Whitehall as presenter for this year's event and was joined at regular intervals by Maya Jama, who crossed over to the main show after fronting the Red Carpet arrivals on ITV2,

The Brits have a reputation for being rather chaotic and there was a worrying moment early on as singer Anne-Marie took a tumble as she started her performance on the O2 Arena stage.

Other performers on the night included Sam Fender, winner for Best Rock/Alternative, big winner on the night Adele and Ed Sheeran, who took to the stage twice, once for a surprise collaboration with Bring Me The Horizon on his hit Bad Habits and then solo to perform The Joker and the Queen from his chart-topping album =.

It was the job of Mo to welcome Ed back to the stage but as he did and mentioned that fact that the multi-platinum musician had donated money to his local football team Ipswich Town, a woman appeared in the background of the live shot.

As millions of people at home watched the coverage on ITV, the woman stared into the lens before making the piece sign at the camera.

Mo and Maya had no idea what was going on behind them, but the woman sparked quite a reaction online.

Posting it on Twitter, a One Direction fan likened it to a moment a few years when a woman suddnly appeared on camera as Jack Whitehall was making a joke about Niall Horan to his former bandmate Liam Payne.

Above the video they wrote: "HIS GIVES OF THE DRUNK WOMAN IN THE BACKGROUND OF THAT ONE LIAM BRITS VIDEO WHEN THEY MADE THRA NIALL JOKE"
