Brit Awards host Mo Gilligan apologises for swearing in live show

Brit Awards host Mo Gilligan issued an apology after he swore during the live show tonight.

The comedian stepped in to fill the shoes of host Jack Whitehall this year after he stepped down from presenting the ceremony.

But while introducing the award for best dance act, Mo got 'over excited' and swore before cutting to the next segment of the show.

Fans couldn't believe what they heard as they shared their amusement on Twitter.

Hen said: "Mo just doing some causal swearing on live tv #BritAwards."

Ellie said: "Did I just hear that right? Did Mo just swear? #brits2022#BritAwards."

Rachel said: "Did Mo drop a little F-bomb before 9pm? #brits2022 #BritAwards"

Mo later issued an apology as he said: "So guys, earlier in the show, I got a little bit carried away and I swore.

"Apologies for any offence. I lost myself."

He also joked that his aunty would not be happy with his language on the show.

It is the first time in four years that Jack Whitehall has not fronted the show which sees live acts perform at the star-studded event.

He has credited not wanting to "outstay his welcome" as his reason for stepping down.

Speaking of Masked Singer judge taking his place, Jack offered his support by saying that he is the "perfect choice" and a "really funny guy".

He added: "It'll be strange seeing someone else doing it because it has become a bit of a fixture for me and something that I look forward to each year but I'm sure Mo will do a great job."
