Bristol woman died from brain injury after she fell on hike with family

A woman from Bristol died after she fell down steps during a hike with her family, an inquest has heard. 40-year old Carly Jayne Farrington died at the University Hospital of Wales in Cardiff on May 17, 2022.

According to Wales Online, an inquest at Pontypridd Coroner's Court heard Ms Farrington, an estate agent with an address at Broadlands Drive, Bristol, had been out hiking in the Brecon Beacons National Park with a family group on May 14 last year.

Carly was walking a popular path between waterfalls when she slipped and fell down a step landing between 10 and 15m below.

Coroner Patricia Morgan said Ms Farrington "sustained a catastrophic head injury and sadly despite extensive medical efforts including helicopter transfer, neurology care, and intensive care she did not survive".

Ms Morgan recorded a conclusion of accidental death and listed a medical cause of death as traumatic brain injury and right brachial artery thrombus (operated) and right upper limb ischaemia.
