The Met Office has forecast no more snow for Bristol, however this week temperatures in the city will feel sub-zero. Following the Christmassy surprise of settled snow across much of the country this weekend, which saw Bristol looking like something from a festive film, forecasters are predicting that, this week at least, we're not scheduled for any more of the white stuff.
Today's forecast (Monday, December 12) details that temperatures will reach a high of just 2C, with lows of -1C at around 10pm tonight. There is also a yellow weather warning in place for ice and fog, something we've already seen plenty of over the last week or so.
Temperatures will stay no higher than 3C, with lows dropping to a bitterly cold -5C on Thursday night (December 15), before rising in time for the weekend. Today's yellow weather warning covers many different parts of the UK, including Manchester, Birmingham, Cardiff and here in the West Country.

The weather warning reads: "Freezing fog and patches of ice likely to lead to some slow or difficult journeys on Sunday night and Monday morning" and warns that people can affect the following disruptions:
- Some icy patches on some untreated roads, pavements and cycle paths
- Slower journey times with delays to bus and train services possible
- Some injuries from slips and falls on icy surfaces
- There is a chance of delays or cancellations to flights
Met Office Chief Meteorologist, Steve Willington, said: “It is staying cold with daytime temperatures remaining only a few degrees above freezing in many places over the coming days and overnight temperatures dropping to -10°C or lower in isolated spots. Although below average, these temperatures are not that unusual for this time of year.
“There is still a risk we could see some freezing fog in places particularly southern England, especially for Sunday and Monday mornings. And there is also a small risk of a band of sleet or snow moving into the far Southeast on Sunday.
"If this happens it could potentially bring some disruption, especially to rush hour on Monday. A warning has been issued.”
The Met Office also states that a Level 3 Cold Weather Alert has been issued by the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) covering all of England and is currently in place until Friday, December 16. Dr Agostinho Sousa, Consultant in Public Health Medicine at UKHSA, said: “Cold weather can have serious consequences for health, and older people and those with heart or lung conditions can be particularly at risk.
“If you have a pre-existing medical condition, you should heat your home to a temperature that is comfortable for you. In rooms you mostly use such as the living room or bedroom, try to heat them to at least 18°C if you can.
"Keep your bedroom windows closed at night. Wearing several layers of clothing will keep you warmer than one thicker layer.”
