Bristol's property market is currently booming. With its independent food and drink scene, vibrant culture and its thriving creative industries, it’s no wonder so many people want to settle down in the city.
It was recently named one of the best places to live in the country by the Sunday Times , which described Bristol as having a “rebellious streak” and “leading the pack” on sustainability issues. The popularity of the city has had an impact on house prices too.
The average home in Bristol is now £363,000 - up 13% since 2020. But a new report from property finder Garrington has put together a ranking of the best places to live in the UK based on criteria including physical environment, quality of life, architecture and heritage, and going green - and Bristol has been trumped by both Weston and Clevedon.

The Garrington research analysed more than 1,400 locations to find the best towns and cities in the UK to buy a house. Bath was named the best place to live in Britain overall in 2022, while Bristol only ranked 199 on the list, falling 54 places from last year.
Half of the report's top 10 locations rank in the top 5% of all locations for 'going green’. With a move to hybrid working the new reality for many, access to fast broadband remained a prerequisite for inclusion, Garrington said.

"With millions of people keen to continue working remotely at least some of the time, many are reassessing what they want from their home – and this shift is transforming Britain’s property market for good," said a spokesperson for Garrington. With all this in mind, we've rounded up 10 places across the Bristol region and ranked them from best to worst according to the survey.
