Tesco shoppers in Bristol have joined others in complaining about a stench at their store, with one claiming it smelled ‘“like someone died in the shop”. This was after Clevedon shoppers complained their Tesco store smelled like a “rank toilet” and was “making them heave”.
Similar comments about the Tesco store in Filton Avenue followed when the article appeared in Bristol Live this week. Writing on Facebook, one shopper said: "Yup they had it sorted for a few weeks, staff said it was pipes or something. More like smells like someone died in the shop".
Another added: “They were getting onto the council to sort it, now the smell is back.” A third agreed: "It’s not nice when you walk in."

Tesco has now confirmed that following a complaint of an odour at the Filton Avenue Express store, their maintenance team have attended the site and carried out works.
This week, shoppers vowed to boycott the Tesco Clevedon store until the stench there had gone. Some shoppers described it as smelling like a “rank toilet”, with others saying the store “smells like a sewer”. There were a number of suggestions as to the source of the pong including rotting vegetables to eggs, or sewers outside the store.
Another customer said: “I feel sorry for the people working there” while there was also comments as to whether the smell was confined to the store entrance or inside. One shopper said it was in the aisles, saying: “It smells gross, makes me want to heave.”
Another customer commenting said he had gone in to the Clevedon store to check and the smell was still there. The customer said: "Let's see what the state is next week, if it continues I'm going elsewhere cus clearly they don't care and nobody is taking responsibility, especially considering the profits they make."
Tesco has apologised to customers and have said investigations are being carried out as to the source of the stench.
