Bristol's Brad Ingram fighting fit as he starts to climb his way up the welterweight division

Unbeaten Bristol welterweight Brad Ingram says he is happy with how his professional career is panning out so far after racking up three wins in seven months.

After picking up his latest victory in Swindon in June, the Bristol-based fighter is hoping to box twice more before the year is out.

His last fight was his first over six rounds, something that he believes to be an important step in his development as he begins to creep towards title-contention. In addition for fighting over longer distances, Ingram also revealed he has started working with a strength and conditioning coach to further improve his skills.

“I’m loving it, the last fight was six rounds and I felt loads better for doing six rounds, doing more rounds suits me,” he said. “I settled down on my punches a lot more and I feel like I didn’t waste as much energy. I tried to plant my feet more and I felt a lot stronger doing it.

“I work with a strength and conditioning coach too now, I do that three times a week now and we are training hard.

“With the training I can definitely feel that I am stronger. I’m not gaining muscle, they’re making me use my body better. Overall I’m feeling stronger, fitter and faster for it.”

Training out of the Sweat Box Gym in Bedminster with coach Medhi Bellarbi, the 23-year-old Neilson Boxing managed has recently been joined by another fighter who has penned a promotional deal with Ingram’s management company, Tosin Kejawa.

Kejawa, a super-middleweight with a record of 6-0 (5KOs) is a welcome addition to the team according to Ingram.

“Tosin is training with us now, it’s always nice to have someone there to push you, he’s a good lad, he’s fit and strong,” he added. “It’s good to have him in the gym, I’ve not sparred him yet but I will be soon which is good preparation for both of us.”

Promoter, Mark Neilson said: “Brad has been a consistent performer since we signed him last year and he’s getting better with every fight. His team are developing him nicely and everyone at Neilson Boxing are looking forward to seeing him back in action later this year, ahead of a busy year in 2023 where we can start to think about titles.”
