For many, a coffee is the best way to start the day, whether that be at home or at a shop on their work commute. Here in Bristol, coffee lovers are spoilt for choice, with many local independent cafes, as well as your popular chains - but where is best?
This was the question one Reddit user had, so they took to the platform to learn other people's preferences. The post said: “Best coffee in Bristol? We want the best coffee in Bristol, criteria: flavour, sustainability, price and interesting people. Any advice?”
The comments section did not disappoint, with scores of replies suggesting a wide variety of places to try out.

Ka:Fei was top of lots of people's lists. The small independent business is located in a shipping container on Colston Avenue in the city centre. With a 4.9 star Google rating, people on Reddit were raving about how good the place was.
One fan wrote: “One that often gets skipped over in these threads is Ka:Fei, in a shipping container by the crossings in the centre. My favourite coffee and the owner/barista is lovely - it’s a proper gem hidden in plain sight.”
Another commenter agreed saying: “Their coffee is genuinely excellent. You don’t expect such good coffee from a container. Secondly, how lovely they are. One of the places that’s able to remember everyone.”

Full Court Press was another place highly recommended. One person praised the venue as being “hard to beat". They said “Just prepare for them to “advise” you that what you ordered isn’t what you want and you actually should have another coffee another way.”
Located in St Nicholas’ Market, the place is in the ideal spot with many heading to the market all week to grab lunch from one of the many stalls on offer. Many commenters put this as one of their top three places to head to for coffee, with one suggesting it offers “great filter choices,” and that it's in a “really cool spot.”
Another venue that received a lot of mentions was Sweven. This small independent is a bit further out of the city centre in Bedminster with a Google rating of 4.8 stars. One commenter said: “Sweven for coffee and baristas that know how to make it."
These weren’t the only ones to get a recommendation with others like Baristas Coffee Collective getting many rave reviews, as well as Dareshack, Mokoko, Society Café, Coffee Under Pressure and many others all getting a mention or two.
It seems there are so many good options to try across the city, which will you try first?
