Bristol restaurant opens secret garden as hidden oasis from high street

One of Bristol's newest restaurants is gearing up to launch a secret garden this weekend. A.B.O.E on Whiteladies Road in Redland is launching an alfresco space for drinks and dining, open for lunch and dinner service and providing a hidden oasis from the high street.

The restaurant, which took over from Flipside cocktail bar in February, fuses classical cooking with south-east Asian influences. Fronted by Michelin-trained chef Seb Merry, the head chef wanted to utilise his culinary training to offer refined sharing plates in a relaxed setting.

A.B.O.E invites guests to enjoy their menu that champions seasonal produce in a beautiful walled garden decked out with greenery and picnic benches. The restaurant's new ‘Sunday Sessions’ will sit side-by-side next to its Sunday roast menu with a point of difference, bringing DJs in to play laid-back music to the space every weekend.

Speaking about the opening of the garden, Seb said: “When we first took on the space, many people were surprised to learn we even have an outdoor space, so we’re really excited to bring our new ‘secret garden’ to Whiteladies, as there’s currently very little outdoor space for food and drinks in the area.

“Myself and the team have been working really hard on making the garden a beautiful space to drink and dine, coming in on days when we’re closed and all mucking in to make sure it’s a really special spot, and we can’t wait to welcome people in to check it out for after-work drinks on a Friday, a casual Saturday lunch or a Sunday Roast with great tunes on our Sunday Sessions!”

The garden is launching to the public this weekend and will be open from 12pm until 10pm Friday and Saturday and 12pm - 8pm on Sundays, available for walk-ins only. A.B.O.E’s Sunday Sessions will launch on Sunday, May 21 and will then run every Sunday throughout the summer.
