Bristol restaurant Coconut Tree promises ‘big flavours and big tunes’ as it extends opening hours

Popular Bristol restaurant The Coconut Tree is launching a new ‘late night eats’ menu.

The Sri Lankan street food business, which has two Bristol sites, has chosen its Clifton restaurant to trial the late-night-opening.

Promising ‘big flavours and big tunes’ the new, late menu of ‘Island Mix Plates’ will be available from 9pm-1am on Friday and Saturday nights.

Dishes include the vegan ‘Fat Sister’ - chunks of pumpkin cooked in coconut cream, curry leaves, pandan leaves and mustard seeds served with coconut sambol, yellow rice and a warm Sri Lankan Roti.

For meat eaters, there’s goat curry and ‘black pork’ - a dish of pork belly slow cooked in dark roasted spices.

‘Late Night Eats’ at The Coconut Tree on Byron Place will run on Friday and Saturday nights, starting from Friday, February 11.

Tables will be available for pre-booking, and walk-ins will be welcomed based on availability. Closing time is 1am.

The Coconut Tree’s usual all-day menu will still be available until 10pm. There will also be ‘2 for £10’ and ‘2 for £12’ offers running on the restaurant’s signature sweet and fiery cocktails.

The Coconut Tree’s Operations Director, Rodrigo Rashinthe, said: “In Bristol, we know that late nights matter and there are times when no-one wants the evening to end.

“So, after speaking to the team, we were keen to trial our ‘late night eats’ idea at our Bristol Triangle site - and let the good times and island vibes roll into the early hours. Now we’re just looking forward to welcoming our first late-night guests!”

The Coconut Tree currently operates eight restaurants in the UK. As well as two in Bristol, there are sites in Bath, Cheltenham, Oxford, Cardiff, Bournemouth and Reading.
