Bristol reacts after gig legend Big Jeff hospitalised following house fire

BristolLive readers have shared their well wishes after news gig sensation, Big Jeff, had been hospitalised following a house fire at his home in Totterdown. The Bristol Legend whos' also known as Jeff John, is widely recognised as the city’s most prolific gig-goer, is being treated at a specialist burns unit in Swansea and is said to be in a stable condition.

Full details of the fire are not currently known but the devastating news has sent shockwaves throughout the Bristol music scene. Leighton McLeod said: "Big Jeff is to Bristol gigs as the ravens are to the Tower of London. Wishing you a speedy recovery and hope to see you at a venue soon."

Rosie Ashforth said: "I only just saw him the other day too, didn't hear anything locally about the fire... weird. get well soon, Big Jeff!" While Em Perry said: "Sending love and speedy recovery x."

But BristolLive readers weren't the only ones sending love to the well-known- figure, he also received support from his 1200 Twitter followers. @samhut75 tweeted: "As a gig-goer, you know when you're in the same room as Jeff that you've made a good choice of where to be that evening."

@bovvywevvy said: "Awful news. An inspiration to many of us who follow his gig adventures and recommendations. Good luck with this fight Big Jeff."
