Friends, family and fellow Bristol musicians wore green in honour of Takayo Nembhard at the 21-year-old’s funeral in Kingsdown. The murdered rapper was honoured at a funeral service at Elim Church on Jamaica Street on Friday (Oct 14), and people from across Bristol lined the street to pay tribute to him.
Takayo, who was better known as TK, was making his name as a rapper called TKorStretch, and had big plans to crack the national rap music scene after a big hit which went viral with half a million views.
Takayo’s family thanked his friends for their support after the tragedy which took place after the Notting Hill Carnival in London back on the last weekend of August.

Takayo was attending the carnival with his sister and friends, but a couple of hours after the carnival ended, he was stabbed in a crowd on a main road close to Ladbroke Grove tube station, under the Westway, and died later in hospital.
After the service on Friday morning, his father Vincent said: “Me and him were very close, we were like good friends. We could sit on the phone and talk for hours. I was his biggest supporter in everything he did, from football to music.”
Takayo was on Bristol Rovers’ academy books as a teenager, but injury ended his dreams of being a professional footballer, so he turned to music and performed at many of the main Bristol events, including Love Saves The Day.
The Metropolitan Police have renewed appeals for information into his murder, but as yet, no one has been arrested.
His mum Sandra told ITV: “We’ve had good moments, we’ve had bad moments but because of the love shown through everyone else, it’s helped carry us through.”
