Bristol music venue and pub the Black Swan to close for at least a year

A popular music venue next to the M32 has announced it will be closing for at least a year for a huge refurbishment. The Black Swan on Stapleton Road, Easton, has announced a string of shows for the first May bank holiday weekend before it closes its doors.

The pub and underground music venue holds a legacy as the home of dub and reggae in Bristol. It's regularly transformed into a DIY festival space right under the M32, decked out with a main room as well as a large backyard.

Closing at the end of the month, The Black Swan will host a three-part weekender for the first May bank holiday weekend from April 28 - April 30, 2023. 'The Black Swan: Closing Trilogy' will invite some of the artists who have played over the years for one last rave before getting its new look.

In a statement on social media, the venue said: "The final events before we shut the club for the refurb are upon us… We’ve got in store a crazy 3-part weekender spanning across the bank holiday at the end of April to send it off in style.

"This will be one of the biggest lineups The Swan has seen, we’re keeping it under wraps for the minute but expect an absolute star studded display of some of the finest talent witnessed within these walls. We’ll be announcing all the crews very soon, but the biggest names will be a surprise for when you step through the door."

So far, Requiem and Method 24 will be supplying the music for the indoors of the venue and Scotland Yard in the backyard. Friday night will kick off with Drum & Bass and Techo from 10pm until 6am.

The rave restarts on Saturday at 3pm for a line-up filled with Drum and Bass and Jungle, leading onto a Garge and 140-inspired day on Sunday. Tickets are on sale now, costing £8 for Friday and Sunday and £10 for Saturday, available through FIXR.

"With this being the last event for at least a year, we anticipate that tickets will absolutely fly out so please don’t delay unless you want to be disappointed," the venue added.

'The Black Swan: Closing Trilogy' is April 28 - April 30, 2023. 438 Stapleton Road, Eastville, Bristol. Tickets (£8/£10): https://fixr.co/organiser/bristek
