Members of the public are being asked to stay away from the scene of a major fire which has broken out at the derelict Grosvenor Hotel in Bristol city centre. Avon Fire & Rescue Service is currently on scene and are battling the blaze.
Crews from eight different fire stations across the city have attended the scene. Social media images and videos show fire personnel using equipment to calm the flames.
In a statement from the fire service, locals were asked to stay away as the incident is currently ongoing.

In a statement, a spokesperson for Avon Fire & Rescue Service said: “Our Control Room have received a large volume of calls regarding an incident on Victoria Street in Bristol city centre. On arrival, crews from Temple, Bedminster, Hicks Gate, Kingswood, Patchway, Avonmouth, Bath and Weston-Super-Mare found a fire on the ground floor of a derelict building and are working to tackle the blaze.
“We advise people to avoid the area while the incident is ongoing.”
The former hotel building in front of Temple Meads station was earlier in the year considered for multi-million pound deal transformation amidst a council buy-out. The buildings has been empty and decaying for at least 20 years, and has been the subject of years of debate and discussion over what should happen to it.
