Bristol florist 'devastated' after funeral wreath 'stolen' from cemetery memorial garden

A Bristol florist is '"devastated" after a wreath she made for a funeral was "stolen". Maria Reeves runs Pet-Alls florist from the pet and garden shop on Crow Lane in Henbury, which she owns alongside her husband.

She was asked to make a funeral wreath by the friends of someone who had passed away. On February 14, she left the wreath next to a plaque with the deceased person's name in the memorial garden at Canford Cemetery and Crematorium, as she often does.

The funeral directors would ordinarily then pick up the flowers for the ceremony. However, Maria says that someone must have taken them, because they did not arrive at the funeral. Maria said that she was "devastated" when she found out what had happened.

"We've been in business 20 years and we've never had this happen before. We're really upset about it," she told Bristol Live. "It was an expensive decoration, costing about £70, but Maria said the price does not matter.

"It doesn't matter how much they are. It's the fact that somebody has taken flowers that were there for somebody's funeral, which is just despicable." The wreath was decorated with red roses, and Maria wonders whether someone may have taken it as a Valentine's day gift for someone else.

She has put a post on Facebook with a picture of a similar wreath, in the hope that if this is what happened, the person who received them might notice. "You've got to let karma do its thing, that's how I l look at it. We will probably never be aware of who did it but maybe the person who receives them will know," she said.
