Bristol electrical firm agrees major deal for flats being built near SS Great Britain

A Bristol electrical services firm has been awarded a major contract for a new harbourside development in the city.

Jeff Way Electrical Services, which is based in Knowle, secured the £1.8m-plus contract for McArthur’s Yard close to the SS Great Britain on the Harbourside.

This project consists of the design and build of electrical services for 142 flats on the “long-derelict” site on Gas Ferry Road in Bristol's historic dockside area.

The £36m project, which is being led by housebuilder Hill Group in association with housing provider The Guinness Partnership, will deliver a mix of one-to-three-bedroom homes for market sale, shared ownership and social rent, as well as ground-floor commercial space.

Jeff Way will be responsible for the full electrical installation to the communal and apartment fit outs, which will consist of internal and external lighting, building network operator (BNO) distribution, a lift safety backup generator and specialist fire, evacuation and access control systems.

The company will begin works next month with completion projected for May 2023.

Neil Way, managing director of Jeff Way, said: "We have worked on many of the prestigious developments in Bristol and that experience and track record stood us in good stead when tendering for this project. This is our first development with Hill Group and we look forward to developing this relationship further with them."

Jeff Way Electrical was established in 1989 in South Bristol and since grown to become the Jeff Way Group of companies, including Jeff Way Construction and Jeff Way Training.
