Bristol dad's Halloween costume finds humour in the horror of soaring fuel costs

For parents getting into the spirit of Halloween, finding an original but still genuinely scary costume is no easy task. Zombies, ghosts, and Netflix serial killers have all been done to death while spending money on a Liz Truss mask you'll only wear once is difficult to justify with the prices of essential goods soaring.

But one Bristol father has sought inspiration for his truly terrifying trick-or-treat outfit from something everyone can relate to but is nevertheless nightmare-inducing - a winter fuel bill.

Christian Needs, a window fabricator from Frenchay, came up with the idea of dressing as a utility statement after his partner, who is disabled and also cares for her son who has epilepsy, was left shocked and scared after being quoted a new yearly tariff of over £2,000 by her energy provider.
