Antoine Semenyo is being monitored by the Ghana FA following his outstanding for for Bristol City and could soon earn a call-up for their World Cup play-offs against Nigeria, reports in Africa claim.
Semenyo has scored four goals and added six assists in 15 appearances for City and has been among the team's best performers since he was moved into a central striker's role by Nigel Pearson in December.
The 22-year-old's performances have caught the eyes of clubs in the Premier League, while Championship rivals Nottingham Forest failed with a deadline day bid for the former SGS College pupil with City understood to be valuing Semenyo in the region of £20million.
SportsworldGhana.com report that the forward is being watched and could be handed a maiden call-up when they take on Nigeria in a two-legged play-off for a place in Qatar at the end of March.
The Black Stars are currently without a manager after Milovan Rajevac dismissal following their early exit at AFCON but Borussia Dortmund assistant coach Otto Addo is competing with Chris Hughton for the role.
Semenyo is of Ghanaian descent and, in a Q&A session with the club website this week revealed the country was his favourite holiday destination having visited a couple of years ago.
It's unclear if London-born Semenyo would definitely accept the call-up but it serves as further confirmation of his development this season at City.
Having emerged through the City academy as a teenager, after a series of loan spells he was given his first-team debut by Lee Johnson in 2019 but was predominantly used as a right-sided forward.
After undergoing knee surgery in May, which curtailed his start to the campaign, Semenyo returned to training in November and has been entrusted with leading the line by Pearson.
His brilliant brace against Fulham, with his second solo strike arguably City's goal of the season so far, further caught the attention of scouts with Crystal Palace and Watford among the top-flight clubs keep a close eye on him.
