West Bromwich Albion have sacked head coach Valerien Ismael after just seven months in charge.
The former Barnsley manager leaves following a dismal run of form which has seen the club slip out of the automatic promotion race.
The Baggies sit fifth, eight points off second having won just once in their last eight matches.
A statement posted on the club's website read: "The club would like to place on record its thanks to Valérien and Adam for their efforts and wishes them well in the future.
"The process of recruiting a new head coach is now underway and an appointment will be announced in due course."
Ismael was tasked with guiding West Brom back to the Premier League at the first time of asking following their relegation last season.
But the board obviously felt that their form and recent performances under Ismael meant promotion to the top flight was looking less and less likely.
West Brom started the campaign in good form and showed their class against City in October when they played The Robins off the park in a 3-0 victory to maintain their second spot in the Championship.
Former Newcastle boss Steve Bruce is the bookies favourite to take the job with Blackburn's Tony Mowbray also among the favourites.
Ex-City manager Lee Johnson, who was sacked as Sunderland manager on Monday, is an outside shot at 25/1 to make the move to the Midlands.
