Max O'Leary - 5
Kicking put his side under pressure and seemed to hesitate coming off his line for the opener. Brilliant save on 25 minutes to keep City in it from a corner. Beaten by a superb finish for West Brom's second but question marks over his positioning.
Zak Vyner - 5
Beaten by the pace of Matt Phillips for the opening goal with the ball in behind, seemingly switched off. Improved after that but damage was already done. Can't be held responsible for the second.
Andy King (off 50, Atkinson) - 6
Promised a difficult test up against the pace and strength of striker Daryl Dike but largely marshalled him well including doing enough to track his run to the near post when he spurned a cross from the right. It proved to be his final involvement after pulling up injured, replaced by Rob Atkinson.
Kal Naismith - 6
Saw a lot of the ball in the first half and was positive with the balls down the channels to get Wells and Conway creating space in the defence. Dropped into midfield for the final 20 minutes of the game. A number of trademark dangerous deliveries. Fought until the end.
Cam Pring - 6
Given plenty of space to get City forward down the left side but wasn't helped out by a lack of options and therefore being forced to turn back. Allowed Jed Wallace to get in his deliveries on one too many occasions. Didn't get forward as much as he would have liked in the second half.
Matty James - 5
Didn't shy away from collecting the ball in deep areas under pressure but couldn't keep track of the runners. Couldn't offer that layer of protection in front of the defence and played too deep in the second half.
Joe Williams (off 70, Sykes) - 5
Like Scott, couldn't get himself into the game for opening 30 minutes but found freedom during a 15-minute spell towards the end of the first half, able to get the wing-backs into the game. Vocal on the pitch, trying to continue motivating his team but barely contributed going forward.
Alex Scott (off 80, Semenyo) - 4
Struggled to have any influence in the opening 45 minutes and was marked out of the game. Didn't throw himself into the tackles we have been accustomed to seeing. Cast a frustrated figure and eventually came off.
Andi Weimann (Off Tanner, 71) - 5
Caught out positionally for the opener, allowing too much space between him and Vyner. Looked uncomfortable at times in the wing-back role. Showed glimpses of his ability in forward possessions but lacked an end product before eventually coming off.
Nahki Wells (Off 80, Bell) - 6
Covered plenty of ground and worked well alongside Conway, teeing him up on two occasions in the first half without managing to be a threat himself. Much quieter in the second half but wasn't helped out by the midfield who played too deeply.
Tommy Conway - 6
A lively start and should have opened the scoring when his strike was saved by the keeper's legs inside the first five minutes. Had another stinging effort tipped over the bar at the end of the first half. Lacked service in the second half.
Substitutes
Rob Atkinson (on 50, King) - 6
Came on to a huge ironic cheer from the home fans. Relatively comfortable on the ball, without any of his surging runs forward.
Mark Sykes (on 71, Williams) - 5
Didn't influence the game on his introduction as West Brom scored a few minutes after coming on.
George Tanner (on 71, Weimann) - 5
Strange substitution to bring him on to play him on the right of the defensive three at the moment in the game.
Antoine Semenyo (on 80, Scott) - N/A
Sam Bell (on 80, Wells) - N/A
Subs not used: Bentley, Dasilva
