Bristol City player ratings vs Sheffield United: Atkinson excellent as Martin hits milestone

Dan Bentley - 6

A top save to deny Gibbs-White in the opening 10 minutes when played through on goal. Had two moments of madness in the first 45 minutes which luckily for him didn't prove costly. Redeemed himself with a great pass to play his role in the goal. Should have done better with the equaliser parrying it straight to his opponent.

Alex Scott - 6

Admitted after the game on Friday that he was struggling for form and again didn't have his best showing at wing-back. Clearly out of his favoured midfield position but can do his job effectively - which is an endorsement in itself. Struggled to get forward but sound in possession.

Robbie Cundy - 7

Caught on his heels towards end of first half when Stevens got the better of him. A great defensive header in the second half with his man lurking. A real test as he looks for a new contract but didn't look out of place. Growing in confidence.

Timm Klose - 7

Found it difficult to deal with the pace and movement of Gibbs-White and Nidiaye in the attack. Saved Bentley's skin after the keeper was lobbed in the first half. More composed in the second half. Some crucial interceptions at the end.

Rob Atkinson - 8

Busy early stages of the contest making a number of good interceptions and winning his defensive headers from corners. Carried the ball well at times. Brilliant tackle on 70 minutes in the box. Another good performance.

Jay Dasilva (off Benarous, 48) - 6

Was forced off injured just after half-time. Couldn't get forward as much as he'd have liked in the first half with the visitors dominant. City missed his defensive-minded play in the second half.

Matty James - 7

Great tackle on Berger to prevent a counter, possibly the only play of note in the first half. Chasing shadows for periods with City slack in possession. Seemed more compact with Massengo in the second half. Played it simple.

Han-Noah Massengo - 7

Brought back into the starting line-up and was handed a tough task against the quality of United's midfield. Sloppy in possession at times but no great surprise with City outnumbered in midfield. Energetic and grew as the game went on, especially in the second half. Terrific defensively in the second half.

Andi Weimann - 7

Made some excellent runs in the first half but his team-mates couldn't pick him out. Forced to drop deep for long periods with United dominant in possession. No real opportunities to grab his 20th of the season.

Chris Martin - 8

Contributed little in the first half but grabbed his 10th of the season early in the second half when he finished past Foderingham from close range. Had a chance with his head from a free-kick but straight at the keeper. Work off the ball proved hugely important in City's counter attacks.

Antoine Semenyo (off Wells, 70) - 7

Looked like the only player who could make something happen in the first half and brilliantly assisted Martin in the second when he showed endeavour to win the ball on the touchline. Missed a great chance to get himself on the scoresheet blazing it over the bar. Picked up a knock that forced him off.

Substitutes

Ayman Benarous (on Dasilva, 48) - 6

Was handed the difficult task of filling the boots of Dasilva at left wing-back and looked uncomfortable at times out of position. Did make a great interception inside the area. Gave it his all.

Nahki Wells (on Semenyo, 70) - 6

Had his one golden opportunity towards the final five minutes but dragged his left-footed effort wide.

Subs not used: O'Leary, King, Idehen, Bell, Conway
