Bristol City player ratings vs Reading: Tommy Conway the standout as he returns with a goal

Max O'Leary - 6

Distribution has been called into question but was excellent today, sparking early counter-attacks by releasing the ball early with long throws. Relieved when Meite rounded him in the first half only for Vyner to head clear. Made a great punch under pressure. Caught off his line for the equaliser, his only blemish.

George Tanner - 7

Earned the assist for Conway when he fed it back into the striker's path. Looked more positive going forward, getting beyond Weimann. Relatively untroubled at the back with Reading eager to play direct down the middle.

Zak Vyner - 6

Marked Carroll from open play and dealt with him with relative ease. Runs of Meite in behind had him troubled once or twice and made a decent header when the striker's effort looked to be heading in.

Cam Pring - 6

Had a tough test marking Andy Carroll on corners - a battle that he was inevitably second favourite to win. It was Carroll's header that sparked the equalising goal. Looked to get forward, including a surging run down the right side which could have led to a second.

Jay Dasilva - 6

Defensively untroubled but could have worked better in tandem with Mehmeti by providing the overlap. His pass to the winger was frustratingly wayward at times. Was strong in the tackle when required and read the game well.

Matty James (off 87, Bell) - 6

Another solid performance at the base of midfield, also helping Taylor-Clarke after the youngster had picked up a booking in the first half. Faultless until he gave away the needless free-kick that led to Reading's equaliser, picking up a yellow in the process. Suffered cramp at the end.

Omar Taylor-Clarke (off 60, King) - 7

His discipline was tested after picking up a booking mid-way through the first half following a heavy touch. Was keen to move the ball quickly which was a positive. Quick closing down his man and did the simple things effectively. Another bright showing.

Andi Weimann - 6

Started brightly out on the right and almost had the ball in the net when his volley was blocked on the line. Played his part in the goal when he fed the initial ball into Conway. Looked most likely to create openings but faded as the contest went on.

Anis Mehmeti - 6

Tried to get City on the counter-attack at every opportunity, proving a handful with his movement and trickery. Right-back couldn't prevent him cutting onto his right foot and whipping in crosses. Deliveries lacked conviction but lively in parts.

Tommy Conway (off 60, Cornick) - 8

Started in the No10 position and showed glimpses of quality with his link-up play without heavily influencing the game. Involved in the build-up before hitting the target for his 10th of the season. Got to the byline in the second half but nobody could get on the end of his dangerous crosses. Great to have him back.

Nahki Wells - 6

Had the ball in the back of the net but was adjudged offside on two occasions Would have liked Conway to play closer to him at times but created movement and space for the wide men to exploit. Sliced a decent opportunity wide in the second half.

Substitutes

Harry Cornick (on 60, Conway) - 6

Held the ball up well and almost won it right at the death with an effort from distance.

Andy King (on 60, Taylor-Clarke) - 6

Battled in the midfield but couldn't stamp his authority on the game. Hit the post in injury time from Pring's delivery.

Sam Bell (on 87, James) - N/A

Subs not used: Wiles-Richards, Wilson, Leeson, Wood,
