Bristol City player ratings vs Preston: Klose enjoys classy debut as Semenyo impresses again

Max O'Leary - 6

Nothing to do in the first 45 minutes but will feel he could have done better with the equaliser. He palmed Archer's strike from distance right into the path of Riis who couldn't miss. Made two excellent punches from dangerous crosses in the second half. Had no chance with the equaliser.

Tomas Kalas - 8

Despite a small error early doors, was faultless once again. Already looks like forming a solid partnership with Timm Klose. Kept Archer relatively quiet throughout, using his strength effectively on numerous occasions to snuff out attacks.

Timm Klose - 8

All eyes were on the new signing after six months without any football but he dealt with the pressure superbly. Brought an added calmness to the defence and reads the game like a true pro, often winning the ball back high up the field. Not afraid to play the ball forward and despite his lack of pace, makes up for it with his intelligence.

Cam Pring - 7

A quiet game for Pring on the left of the back three. Was marking Riis for the majority of the contest and kept him quiet, despite the forward bagging the equaliser. Refrained from his surging runs up the left in the second half.

Jay Dasilva - 7

Started on the right and was a real danger with his runs forward on the counter-attack. Looks to be getting better following a run in the first team and didn't need to do much defensively. Moved over to the left after Williams' introduction before eventually being replaced.

Han-Noah Massengo - 7

Appears to be forging a terrific partnership with Scott in central midfield. A brilliant first half, full of energy as he controlled the game alongside his midfield partner. Tired a little in the second half.

Alex Scott - 8

Superb in the first half, launching himself into tackles and driving runs forward to spark attacks. Almost has a look of the Jack Grealish about him with his low socks and the way he breezes past his opponents - the sign of a real quality player.

Callum O'Dowda - 6

Missed a decent opportunity to double City's lead in the first half but blazed over with his weaker foot. Could almost copy and paste from last previous performances - worked hard but again struggled to deliver in the final third.

Andi Weimann - 7

Was rewarded for his unselfishness when he resisted the urge to shoot and instead played in Martin to open the scoring. Missed an absolute sitter on the 40-minute mark to double City's advantage. Caused a nuisance of himself but was sometimes wasteful with his final ball.

Antoine Semenyo - 8

A complete handful in the first half yet again and was finally rewarded for his performance with the winner with 10 minutes to play. Found space in the box on the left and drilled it past the keeper when it didn't look like it was going to be his day. Should have had a penalty too.

Chris Martin - 8

Opened the scoring with a brilliant left-footed finish from a tight angle. Dropped into the hole and held the ball up superbly, giving the Preston defence huge problems, especially in the first half. Struggled to get on the ball in the second half but another performance to prove why he should be starting.

Substitutes

Joe Williams (for O'Dowda, 64) - 7

Was a reassurance presence in midfield and added crucial experience at the ideal moment in the contest. Kept possession well and calmed the contest when Preston threatened to add pressure.

Robbie Cundy (for Dasilva, 82) - N/A

Zak Vyner (for Scott, 84) - N/A

Subs not used: Dan Bentley, Nahki Wells, Tommy Conway, Ayman Benarous
