Bristol City have two stars named in the top 50 players outside of the Premier League

Bristol City have two players involved in the 'Best 50 Players in the EFL' with Alex Scott and Anis Mehmeti both earning recognition.

FourFourTwo magazine released their annual list, which is voted for by readers, with Scott at number 17 and Mehmeti ranked 36th. It's the first time the duo have been named after Andi Weimann and Antoine Semenyo were confirmed in last year's edition.

Scott's stock has continued to rise this season, reflected by the ongoing Premier League speculation surrounding his future, and his performances have been acknowledged from managers and pundits alike outside of BS3. Both Pep Guardiola and Jack Grealish were complimentary of the 19-year-old after the FA Cup defeat against Manchester City in February.

The midfielder has also enjoyed success at international level, winning the European Championship at Under-19 level last summer. He has since been promoted to Ian Foster's U20 side and is set to feature in their World Cup tournament in May.

In their write-up for Scott, they write: "Pointing Spider-Man memes flood Twitter as the Guernsey Grealish met the real thing in an FA Cup tie with Manchester City. Scott shares the low-slung socks, sinuous skill and England future."

Mehmeti's acknowledgment highlights the transfer coup City pulled off during the January transfer window. The 22-year-old arrived in BS3 on the back of one and a half highly successful season in League One with Wycombe.

The winger scored nine and assisted three in his 27 matches under Gareth Ainsworth this season, becoming the club's most expensive player when he made the move to Ashton Gate on Deadline Day for an undisclosed fee. Mehmeti also made his international debut over the most recent break, coming on for the final 20 minutes of Albania's defeat against Poland.

FourFourTwo writes of his involvement: "Gareth Ainsworth left his mark on Mehmeti. The dribble king responded instantly if Wycombe lost the ball, preparing him well for a return to the Championship with Bristol City. The Albanian has sublime vision and agility."

There have been glimpses of his talent during his first two months in a City shirt, including his assist in the draw against Wigan, but by his own admission, he still has plenty more to offer supporters as he awaits his first goal.

Like Weimann, Kane Wilson was named in the list last year but drops out this time around given his frustrating campaign following his League Two Player of the Year award for Forest Green Rovers. Former City midfielder Josh Brownhill is unsurprisingly on the list with the Burnley midfielder in fifth.
