Bristol City forward on compassionate leave due to close family bereavement

Bristol City forward Sam Pearson has been recalled from his loan at Inverness Caledonian Thistle and granted compassionate leave following a "close family bereavement".

City announced on Friday the 20-year-old's spell in Scotland is over, with the winger heading home to spend time with his loved ones. In eight games with Caley Thistle, Pearson scored once.

"Sam has been granted compassionate leave as we support him through this difficult time," a statement from the Robins said. "Our sympathies are with Sam and his family.

"We would like to thank Inverness Caledonian Thistle for their care and consideration for Sam and we wish them all the best for the rest of the season."

Inverness also sent their best wishes to the youngster. A statement said: "Sam conducted himself exceptionally well in both training and during matches and we obviously wish Sam and his family all the best in the future and thank him for his efforts while here at the club.

"We also thank the relevant Bristol City staff for their professionalism throughout our dealings with the club and we hope they can finish their season well."

The Wales under-21 international, a product of City's academy, has made five appearances for the Robins' first team.
