Bristol City are pushing for the double deadline day additions of Anis Mehmeti from Wycombe Wanderers and Luton Town’s Harry Cornick, but are facing increasing competition for the latter from Swansea City.
As first reported by the Telegraph, Mehmeti is due at the High Performance Centre later today for a medical after a fee was agreed with the League One club for their prized asset. The Albanian international has nine goals and three assists in 27 League One appearances for the Chairboys this season and is one of the brightest attacking talents in the EFL.
Mehmeti is an attacking midfielder but has increasingly been stationed on the left as a wide forward and would therefore represent a positional replacement for Antoine Semenyo following his sale to Bournemouth last week. In Nigel Pearson’s now-established 4-3-3, City don’t have a naturally left-sided attacking player unless full-backs Cam Pring or Jay Dasilva are pushed further forward.
