Bristol Bears' rising star being chased by four clubs and trio linked with exit

At least four foreign clubs are chasing the signature of Bristol Bears centre Antoine Frisch according to the latest reports.

Frisch arrived at the Bears in the summer from French ProD2 side Rouen a relative unknown and had to bide his time for an opportunity in the first team, but in the last couple of months the 6ft 3in, 26-year-old has burst onto the scene to really build his reputation.

That culminated in a stunning display in Bristol Bears' 27-23 defeat to Saracens at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday where he scored one try and played a key role in the other two scored by the away side.

And Frisch’s form has not gone unnoticed with The Rugby Paper reporting both Stade Francais, where he played as a youngster, and Montpellier are interested in bringing him to the French Top 14 next season.

Meanwhile, there is also reported interest from two unnamed Irish provinces.

Speaking about Frisch to Bristol Live earlier this month, Bears director of rugby Pat Lam said: "He has done well.

"He is certainly dangerous in attack and brings some really good energy to the team."

Frisch does not appear to be the only player at Bristol Bears whose contract situation is yet to be finalised with The Rugby Paper reporting this week that former Wallabies winger Luke Morahan could be off at the end of the season having arrived at the club with Lam back in 2017.

The publication also reports fly-half Tiff Eden and backrower Mitch Eadie, could also be off in June.

Both players find themselves on the fringes of the Bears' first-team squad, although Eden has had increased game time during the Six Nations window with first-choice stand-off Callum Sheedy away with Wales and has used it well to grow this reputation.

Eden joined the Bears from Championship side Nottingham in the summer of 2018.

Bristolian Eadie returned to Bristol from Northampton Saints in the summer of 2020 but has struggled for game time.

Elsewhere in the squad, lock Dave Attwood spoke about his unresolved contraction situation earlier this month and fellow former England international Nathan Hughes is expected to leave the club for Clermont at the end of the season.
