Bristol Bears director of rugby Pat Lam has once again moved to strengthen his squad with the addition of an out of work Wasps player with the addition of experienced second row Elliott Stooke.
Stooke has joined Bristol as short-term injury cover with immediate effect, joining former Wasps team mate Will Porter at BS3 along with former Worcester Warriors lock Joe Batley and tighthead Jay Tyack who has now signed for the rest of the season after joining the club on loan.
Stooke, 28, made 142 Premiership appearances for Bath before joining Wasps last season and he immediately hit the ground running with an impressive run of performances before suffering an MCL knee injury in pre-season which has kept him out until this month when he made his playing return with the Barbarians.
Director of rugby, Pat Lam, said: “Following the injuries to Ed Holmes and Joe Joyce, we needed some cover in the second row and we’re pleased to bring in a player of Elliott’s quality and experience."
Stooke was not named as part of Bristol's squad to face Leicester Tigers tomorrow but looks set to be added to their European squad as the club head into back-to-back weekends of Challenge Cup action.
