Two of Bristol’s major entertainment organisations have agreed a deal to work together on a number of projects within the local community.
Bafta-winning television production company Plimsoll is partnering with city centre music venue Bristol Beacon (formerly known as Colston Hall) to help it reach and engage with greater audiences.
Plimsoll, which is headquartered in Bristol but also has offices in Cardiff and Los Angeles, will also produce two videos to showcase and raise awareness of the work done by Bristol Beacon - a music education hub, run by an independent music charity.
The Whiteladies Road-based TV production company is known for making natural history and factual content, including Hostile Planet with Bear Grylls for National Geographic. The business has been based in Bristol since 2013, with a team of around 400 staff. Last year Plimsoll reported a 65% growth in sales as its portfolio of nature documentaries attracted growing audiences on major networks.
Christine Owen, director of Plimsoll Productions, said: “As an organisation that values excellence and kindness and promotes creativity, inclusivity and diversity, a partnership with Bristol Beacon makes a lot of sense.
“We look forward to enjoying world-class entertainment by experiencing the Beacon’s performance programme, as well as the opportunity to use our skills as one of the largest independent TV production companies in the UK to highlight the role that this important charity plays in our city.”
Bristol Beacon’s creative learning programme reaches more than 30,000 young people in the city every year. The historic venue is due to reopen in 2023 after a huge transformation.
The venue’s chief executive, Louise Mitchell, added: “As we get ever closer to reopening our building, now is the time we are seeking to build a community of like-minded organisations who believe in the transformative impact of creativity for the city, its businesses and residents.
“We have found that in Plimsoll Productions. Together we can make space for music for everyone in the city.”
