A Bristol-based tech business has been acquired by a global biotechnology company for an undisclosed amount.
Optimal Industrial Automation and Technologies, which has offices in Yate and Emersons Green, provides industrial automation and software services to customers in the pharmaceutical, power generation and food and drink sectors.
The company’s shareholders have sold their entire issued share capital to US firm Bruker, which manufactures and distributes scientific instruments for research and industrial analysis.
Optimal said the deal would enable it to integrate additional technologies into its offering and would strengthen Bruker’s position in the bio-pharmaceutical market.
Martin Gadsby, who co-founded Optimal in 1987 alongside Dave Richards, said the companies were a “perfect fit.”
Mr Gadsby said: “The whole Optimal team is excited with this new chapter in our history and look forward to delivering benefits to even more customers and patients around the world.”
Optimal was advised on the deal by law firm Thrings, with client partner and head of commercial Kate Westbrook, adding: “Having first acted for Optimal in 2004, we are thrilled to see their hard work rewarded and the companies enjoy the success they so richly deserve.”
CMS Cameron McKenna Nabarro Olswang LLP UK provided legal advice to Bruker.
