Bristol Airport Megabus and Falcon services disrupted by fatal A38 crash

Public transport services to Bristol Airport are being affected by the A38 closure this morning (April 18). A person died following the three-vehicle collision in Barrow Gurney at around 7.35am.

The busy route is currently closed between the Airport Tavern and Dial Lane. First West of England, Megabus and South West Falcon services are being delayed or cancelled as a result of the closure.

Both Megabus and South West Falcon have confirmed on Twitter that their services are being affected to and from Bristol Airport. Megabus will not serve the airport "until further notice" while South West Falcon is experiencing delays in both directions near the airport.

Meanwhile, First West of England announced that the A1 service is partially suspended between Bristol Bus Station and Bristol Temple Meads. The company's services are only operating between Temple Meads and Bristol Airport.

Avon and Somerset Police said in a statement: "Emergency services are at the scene of a fatal collision on the A38 Bridgwater Road at Barrow Gurney. The road is closed between the Airport Tavern and Dial Lane.

"Police were called at 7.35am today, Tuesday 18 April, to a report of a collision in which three cars caught fire. Fire and ambulance crews also attended.

"It's believed that, sadly, one person has lost their life. The deceased has not yet been identified.

"A second person is being treated by ambulance for injuries which are not believed to be life-threatening or life-changing. Motorists are advised to avoid the area.
