Bristol Airport food and drink: Caffe Nero opens new branch at terminal

Travellers will welcome the warm aroma of coffee as they enter the main airport terminal at Bristol Airport where Caffe Nero has just opened. The European coffee house is located near the entrance to security in the terminal and is already buzzing with customers.

The popular coffee chain is now in 33 airport stores and won the tender process to move into Bristol Airport. With an investment of over £500,000, the store is 2000sq ft with over 80 seats. It is said to be a bespoke design by the company’s founder, Gerry Ford and is designed to deliver a feeling of warmth and cosiness inside a busy airport.

Generating 15 new jobs, the store has already recorded a week of strong sales with management saying it was already “trading ahead of expectations” and had received positive feedback for its look and feel. It will offer another option for outbound travellers, along with the existing Starbucks, Soho Coffee and other eateries.

Caffe Nero managing director, Glyn House said: “I’m delighted by the early performance of our new Bristol Airport store. The design is fantastic, it really creates an exciting, yet warm and welcoming atmosphere and customers are telling us how impressed they are.”

Rupert Lawrie, commercial director at Bristol Airport described the latest store in the airport as “fantastic news”. He said: “The store will further enhance the extensive food and beverage range currently available to customers.

“Caffe Nero is ideally located at the entrance to security in the terminal, offering customers whether arriving, departing or picking up family and friends, another option of restaurant to enjoy refreshments in comfortable and relaxed surroundings.”

This latest opening comes hot on the heels of the opening of two new exclusive lounges for summer travellers. Customers can pre-book entry to the 1903 Lounge which will operate from May 1 and the Escape Lounge with entry from June 1.

Both lounges will offer a range of complimentary wines, beers, spirits, tea, coffee and soft drinks. There will also be complimentary snacks on offer, including hot bacon rolls, soup, Danish pastries, biscuits and cakes.

Business Live reported Bristol Airport is proceeding with a major investment in its terminal building, parking facilities, and public transport links, which it has said will help create 800 jobs across its operations and boost the South West economy by an estimated £430m.
