A number of flights which were due to take off from and arrive at Bristol Airport today from locations in France, Italy, and Spain have been cancelled. Bristol Airport is not the only airport facing disruption, as tens of thousands of holidaymakers are expected to be hit by travel chaos due to air traffic control strikes in France.
Major airlines have been forced to cancel flights as a result of the walkout, which has affected at least 19 flights to and from Bristol Airport due to limits on flying over France. According to the Evening Standard, 80,000 people have been affected by these strikes.
The strikes have led to the cancellation of 420 Ryanair flights, 76 easyJet flights, 22 British Airways flights, and 55% of Air France's short-haul flights. On a local level, 13 easyJet flights and six Ryanair flights destined for Bristol Airport or due to take off from Bristol Airport today have been called off.
