A Brisbane Broncos player accused of a serious off-field offence over the Christmas break has had his matter mentioned in court for the first time.
Teui (TC) Robati, was charged over an alleged incident, which took place in a Brisbane venue on December 21.
The matter was briefly mentioned in the Brisbane Magistrates Court this morning.
His defence lawyer asked for the 21-year-old's appearance to be excused.
The case was adjourned for four weeks with Mr Robati already on bail.
Last month the Broncos said in a statement that the club had already reported the alleged incident to the NRL integrity unit.
"We fully acknowledge that this is a serious matter," chief executive Dave Donaghy said.
Mr Donaghy said Mr Robati had been stood down from "all club activities," and the board would review the matter.
"There is now a legal process in place and that needs to be respected and adhered to," he said.
Mr Robati made his NRL debut in 2021 and is contracted to the Broncos until the end of the 2024 season.
