MUMBAI: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has said that it has closed its enquiry into the alleged irregularities in the Rs 291 crore tenders for construction of new animal enclosures at Byculla zoo as BMC refused permission for the probe against BMC officials and contractors. The ACB has said it had sent a request to municipal commissioner Iqbal Chahal, seeking permission to hold an enquiry into the matter.
"...A request was sent to the municipal commissioner to allow the ACB to conduct the enquiry on 16.03.2022. Orders were given by the municipal commissioner, refusing to give permission. So, ACB, Mumbai office, has closed the issue," Hemant Sawant, additional deputy commissioner of police (ACB), said in a letter to advocate Komal Kandharkar who had first filed a complaint on behalf of BJP's Vinod Mishra.
