Brightest stars of Scottish wrestling head to Lanarkshire for two shows

Some of the brightest stars in the Scottish wrestling are ready for a double night of action in Newmains next month.

Pro Wrestling Scotland is hosting two days of family friendly grappling at the NCT Centre on September 24 and 25 with the culmination of the company’s heavyweight title featuring prominently.

The shows will feature Newmains brothers Dean and Kieran Ford as well top talent Krieger, from Wishaw.

WWE UK NXT star Angel Hayes will also be appearing on the Saturday show where she will take on Melissa Fierce.

Thomas Mackrell, from PWS, told Lanarkshire Live : “We have a lot of young talent from this area so that shows and the people who are coming to the shows are delighted to be enjoying live wrestling on their doorstep.

“Dean is one of those great young talents and will be taking on Logan Smith in a championship match.

“Krieger has been doing really well with various promotions around the country and he will be facing Ryan Driver.

“The heavyweight tournament final will take place on the Sunday show.”

As with every entertainment industry, independent wrestling suffered greatly due to the pandemic.

However, with restrictions lifted shows are now being held up and down the country with the crowds returning in big numbers.

For Thomas, who started his promotion in 2017 and also runs the Premier British Wrestling School in Airdrie, it has been a welcome return.

He added: “We are starting to build up some real momentum after the pandemic.

“People coming along will see an action show with plenty of high flying and hard hitting wrestling action.

“There will also be a chance to meet the wrestlers.”

The action kicks off for the Saturday show at 7.30pm; doors open at 7pm.

The first bell for the Sunday show is at 3pm with doors opening at 2.30pm.

Tickets for both shows are priced at £15 for the front row, £12 for adults and £10 for under-14s; head online for tickets.
