Bright blue former nightclub set for new lease of life and colour change

Painted bright blue, and three-storey, this is a building that is hard to miss. However, this former nightclub and retail unit in Ilkeston will soon get a new look and a new lease of life.

The building in the Derbyshire town has been empty for nearly a year after the pet supply company that occupied the ground floor premises of 78-82 Bath Street relocated. Now the landmark building, which was once also home to a night club according to reports, could become four shops, two two-bed flats and a fitness studio. Three shops would face onto Bath Street and one would face onto the existing car park off Chapel Street, opposite the new site of the pet supply company which had occupied the main building.

The former Chambers Pet Supplies shop is a prominent landmark in the town centre, painted in show-stopping bright blue. However, as part of the new plans, the building would be repainted off-white “to bring back a more traditional appearance”, reports Derbyshire Live. And, as well as a re-paint, the make-over will include new windows and doors and internal roller shutters.
