Bridgerton’s Adjoa Andoh teases season four and reveals what the cast is really like

Adjoa Andoh has hinted that the fourth series of Bridgerton could surprise fans.

The actress, 62, who recently received an MBE, has starred in the hit Netflix drama since it first debuted in 2020, becoming a constant presence as the formidable Lady Danbury across all three previous seasons.

Season four is set to arrive in early 2026 and will be released in two parts by the streaming giant. The first part will be available worldwide on January 29, with the second scheduled for February 26, as the focus shifts to Benedict Bridgerton following the events of the last series.

Speaking to Good Housekeeping UK for its February edition, Andoh suggested that while Benedict’s romance sits at the centre of the new episodes, the show is also broadening its storytelling ambitions.

“Everyone knows it’s Benedict’s story, but I can also say that we’re expanding the ‘Bridgeverse’ in terms of where the focus is storytelling-wise,” she said. “If you love Bridgerton, you’ll get more of the same – but you’ll also get more bang for your buck. Take that as you please.”

Her comments point to a season that looks beyond a single love story, continuing to develop the wider social world of the ton and the characters who move within it. Lady Danbury has long operated as a quiet powerbroker in the series, shaping events from the margins rather than the ballroom floor, and Andoh’s remarks suggest the ensemble will continue to play an important role as new characters are introduced.

Despite the scale of the production and its global success, Andoh says the atmosphere on set remains grounded. With a large cast working across busy and overlapping schedules, she explained that cast members often cross paths briefly rather than spending long stretches together.

“We’re like ships in the night on set, but it’s a really nice cast and there aren’t any divas,” she said.

The rotating structure of Bridgerton, which places a different sibling at the heart of each season, means actors move in and out of focus as the narrative shifts. According to Andoh, that approach has helped maintain a sense of balance behind the scenes as the series has grown in scale and profile.

Away from filming, however, the show plays a relatively small role in her home life. Andoh revealed that her husband, author Howard Cunnell, has never watched the series.

“My husband has never seen a second of Bridgerton,” she said. “It’s not his thing.”
