Bridge Street in Morley is to be partially closed off so workers can replace gas pipes in the area.
Northern Gasworks said the closure will be put in place to protect the workers as they install new plastic pipes. Work will begin on October 17 and is expected to take four weeks to complete.
From Monday, October 22, Bridge Street will be closed fully for "approximately one week". Northern Gasworks say this closure will be on the Bridge Street roundabout outside Hembrigg Mill and, while vehicles will be allowed to join Bridge Street from the roundabout, drivers will be prevented from joining the roundabout via Bridge Street.
A signed diversion will be in place as well as two-way temporary traffic lights for the duration of the project. Steve Pigott, Business Operations Lead for Northern Gas Networks, said: “We would like to apologise in advance for any inconvenience caused during these essential works. However, it is vital we complete them in order to continue to maintain a safe and reliable gas supply to the residents of Morley."
The new replacement pipes are, according to Northern Gasworks, more durable and will help ensure a "safe and reliable" gas supply to residents in Morley. The company also says they will help prepare the network for transporting green fuels in the futures.
