A bride has expressed her frustrations after several wedding guests cancelled on her just days before the big day.
The woman has had five of her wedding guests drop out six days before the ceremony. Due to the late notice, she revealed online that she is considering charging £85 to those who can no longer make it.
Taking to Mumsnet's popular Am I Being Unreasonable? (AIBU) thread, the bride-to-be explained her reasoning. In a post titled 'Wedding guest drop outs', she wrote: "So we are six days from our wedding and have five people drop out. Every time someone says they aren't coming it costs us £85 plus the evening buffet cost per person.

"We didn't want two tier guests so everyone is invited to the whole day and evening. Invited a year ago and invites sent out six months ago. I feel like sending them an invoice. AIBU, you don't drop out six days before the whole thing happens."
The woman's post was met with a flurry of comments from fellow Mumsnet users. One wrote: "It's normal to have some people drop out at the last minute, especially if you invited them ages ago. Stuff happens. Five percent drop out at the last moment is normal."
Someone else said: "Really annoys me when people did this for my wedding. I invited newer friends, ones who I didn't necessarily know or were close with when original invites were sent out. Then they didn't feel like second class friends as they didn't know you well before, but felt honoured they were the first to be asked when spaces became available."
Another Mumsnet user wrote: "They haven't really 'cost' you anything. The cost is the same whether they attend or not." Someone else added: "It's annoying but usually people have a good reason."
One person said: "We had five members of DH's (darling husband) family pull out with less than a week to go, they never gave a reason. And one of my oldest friends didn't even show up and then messaged me a few days afterwards to say they'd forgotten (!) It's rude and frustrating when you have to fund it, equally not a lot you can do. Is there anyone else you would have invited if numbers allowed that you could offer a place to?"
Another commenter said: "You're presumably still within the costs you've budgeted for. The cost hasn't gone up because they're not coming. This is something you need to allow for when planning a big event, it happens, it's outside your control and there's nothing you can do about it. Try and fill in, adjust the table plans and just focus on enjoying the day. Don't turn into bridezilla over something so trivial."
Another Mumsnet user added: "Totally understand your frustration and upset, that's quite a few people to drop out. Honestly, only once have I had to 'drop out' of a wedding invitation due to being in hospital, and I offered to pay for my meal so they weren't out of pocket. I think that's just basic manners. They didn't accept it but I'd have happily paid it, it's really rude to drop out and not offer when something like a wedding can cost so much per head."
