A bride surprised her husband on their wedding day by serenading him with his favourite song. Rebecca Stead belted out a rendition of Shallow, from the movie A Star is Born, especially for her groom Jack Stead.
When asked why she decided to perform, Rebecca said: "My wedding guests kept asking if I would perform and I kept saying no. I kept saying it's my day off, I'm paying other people to sing, I'm not going to sing.
"Then it got to two weeks before my wedding and I just thought why not." The couple tied the knot at a glamourous wedding in Rathmullan, Donegal.
Rebecca, who is originally from Ireland, moved to Merseyside nine years ago, where she lives with her now-husband Jack. The couple, who live in Widnes, first met in February 2017 while Rebecca was performing at a gig.
"He came in with his friends and he started dancing while I was singing and I thought ‘Who's this fella here?'. After the gig, I walked up to him and said 'are you going to buy me a drink or what?'
“He's like my number one fan and roadie. He loves watching me perform," the 27-year-old told the Liverpool Echo. Rebecca, who is also a midwife, said that her co-workers and her parents back in Ireland have been sharing the video of her performance.
She said: “When I came back to work in the hospital, people were saying they'd seen my video. And back home, my daddy works in a bar and he said people have been coming in saying they've seen me on Instagram singing.”
She added that the wedding went perfectly, saying: "Our families had never met before and they both have huge personalities. But everyone was getting on so well.
“From start to finish, no one stopped drinking or dancing. It was just amazing."
