Officer Sidra Brown was not placed on leave but was reassigned while the police department conducts its own internal review. In response to the incident, the police department says it will add heat sensors to K-9 patrol cars and use special collars that connect to the handlers' phones to monitor the dogs' health and send alerts if something goes wrong.
