Brice Samba subject of transfer 'enquiry' as Nottingham Forest fans receive ticket boost

French side Lens are said to have made a direct enquiry for Nottingham Forest goalkeeper Brice Samba.

The Reds face losing their first-choice stopper this summer, just as they are preparing for their return to the Premier League after a 23-year absence. Samba has 12 months left to run on his contract and is said to have turned down the offer of a new one.

The 28-year-old has reportedly deemed Forest’s terms “unacceptable”. And, as a result, he is said to have told the club he intends to leave, with the transfer window officially opening on Friday.

Ticket details

Premier League clubs have unanimously agreed to maintain the current £30 price cap on away tickets for the next three years.

The initial price cap was first introduced in the 2016/17 Premier League campaign as part of the Premier League Away Supporters’ Initiative, which aimed to provide fans with a range of measures to enhance their experience while travelling to support their individual clubs. The £30 cap will be reviewed in 2025 in its ninth year of implementation.

In a statement released by the Premier League earlier today, all 20 clubs within the top flight of English football, which includes Nottingham Forest for the first time in 23 years after their success in the play-off final, agreed to prioritise 'the crucial importance of supporters' to provide the fans with the best possible atmosphere when travelling to support their team.

The statement also outlines that clubs approved the introduction of an 'action plan to address improving the League’s collective offer for fans', which includes developing a series of new 'League-wide measures and commitments' for supporters.

Striker speculation

Nottingham Forest-linked striker Milan Djuric is said to have offers on the table as he weighs up his future.

Boss Steve Cooper will look to add to his attacking options this summer, ready for making the step up to the Premier League in the upcoming season. And the Reds are among a number of clubs credited with an interest in the Salernitana forward.

The Italian outfit have now put fresh terms on the table, ahead of Djuric’s contract expiring at the end of this month, as they try to hang on to the forward. But it is said he also has moves elsewhere to consider, amid no shortage of suitors.

Turkish newspaper Fanatik report Besiktas have put forward an offer. And they also claim two English clubs have done the same.

Motivational quote

Defender Scott McKenna has identified a particular motivational quote which helped Nottingham Forest on their way to promotion.

Head coach Steve Cooper would try to keep the mood positive in the group Whatsapp chat. But a saying from assistant Steven Reid also did the trick - albeit one, McKenna says, he picked up from Scotland boss Steve Clarke.

Reid used to be on the backroom staff with the national team, before stepping down from to focus on his work with the Reds in 2021. And he played an integral part in a successful 2021/22 season at the City Ground, setting the ball rolling for the transformation under Cooper when he was in caretaker charge for Forest’s first win of the campaign.

That came against Huddersfield Town last September. And, with a touch of symmetry, the Terriers were the opponents as the Reds ended their stay in the Championship at Wembley. McKenna says his experiences with his country helped as Cooper’s side triumphed via the play-offs.
