Brice Samba receives clear message after Nottingham Forest hero linked with shock transfer

Former Nottingham Forest goalkeeper Brice Samba has been linked with a shock return to the East Midlands with MediaFoot claiming Leicester City are interested in signing the 28-year-old.

Samba made 133 appearances for Forest after arriving at the City Ground in 2019 and established a strong relationship with the club's supporters courtesy of his exuberant style of play between the sticks.

He would then go on to play an influential part in the Reds' promotion to the Premier League under Steve Cooper with his penalty-stopping heroics in the play-off semi-final triumph over Sheffield United memorable, but joined RC Lens in the summer after failing to agree a new deal.

Leicester have endured a disappointing campaign under Brendan Rodgers, and like Forest, currently occupy one of the Premier League's relegation spots.

Club legend Kasper Schmeichel joined OGC Nice in the summer and his absence has proven to be a costly one for Brendan Rodgers. Danny Ward has struggled to provide the same consistency that Schmeichel would so often add.

While Manchester United loanee Dean Henderson has since won a number of plaudits having filled the gap that Samba vacated at Forest, fans undoubtedly still hold Samba close to their hearts.

And that was evident in their social media reaction to reports of a return to England...

@brogaaaaaaan - What kind of joke is this?

@hannahforest - This would be a twist in the tale! But if people think he'd be brilliant with this awful defence of ours they are wrong!

@Joelnffc6 - Still fuming we let him go

@_RickJO - I think I’ve just been sick in my mouth #nffc

@ifyou_dontshine - Wow! I guess this is where saying they aren't our rivals bites us on the butt!

@JtNottm - Its proper ruined my Friday. Better not happen!

@kookiethekat - Please god no
